Thanks much Jazz Cat for sharing this with everyone. Could also be from using a reed that’s too thick, what reed are you using? Sometimes we get so caught up in our playing that we can overlook these simple things that make such a big difference, I know I’m guilty of it for sure. This can affect the intonation like you mentioned above. This can even happen even from something as simple as the reed being out of proper alignment with the MP/slips from the ligature, etc. But along the lines of what Jake is saying, what I’m still hearing is that the reed isn’t vibrating as freely as it should. so that we blend the volume of your Sax with the track like we would do when performing live on a stage. I totally get where you’re coming from about editing the volume, mic placement, etc. The one thing I am curious about is your reed choice.

#Yamaha yts 62 purple logo professional
I’ve had an issue with a couple of uploads myself in that regard. The Yamaha YTS-62III tenor saxophone is the result of more than five decades of commitment to the professional saxophonist. I know what you mean about editing the volume with the track that you’re using, especially if there’s a vocalist on the track because we don’t want to stand out over the vocalist by any means. It’s a considerable amount of work & time that we take from our own personal schedules to put something together to post here on Johnny’s site, not to mention the time it takes us to learn these songs so thanks much for doing it ? Great job on the visual entertainment and you have given me some inspiration in this regard for sure I’ll be making good use of the Green Screen technology with select videos coming very soon. Good for you to upload and it’s much appreciated because we all learn so much from each other. At that point, you are into some pretty amazing tone with not too much money invested.Hi Jazz Cat–sorry I missed this one, I didn’t know a member’s video was here I’m used to looking for uploads in the Member’s Video section, so I didn’t mean to not see this. It also opens it up more and makes the altissimo unbelievably responsive. Just a quick note – The original necks on these horns are already very good, but if you want to go more vintage in tone, here’s a great trick: If you can find a Boesken neck and put it on here (the one I used was the gold plated one in the necks section of this site) it makes the horn into more of a vintage SBA/early VI type tone. It spent its life in a low-humidity closet in California, so everything about it is still pristine. This horn has just had ALL NEW PADS put in by Matt Stohrer, who is one of the best saxophone techs in the business. Original lacquer finish is around 90 with most of the wear on the back. This was Yamaha's top model when it was made and is a nice top quality tenor with modern keywork. And my asking price is less than the new price would have been back in 1980 dollars. This is a vintage Yamaha YTS-62 'Purple Logo' Professional Model Tenor Saxophone. It is as close as you will get to going back to 1980 and buying one new. There is not so much as a scratch on this horn.
#Yamaha yts 62 purple logo serial
This is an early serial 62 and the silk screen Yamaha logo is still perfect as well. Everything is still perfect and all original, and it even includes the case keys, strap, cork grease, and owner’s manual. This particular 62 is in like new condition. For anyone who wants to go vintage but not too vintage, this horn is a no-brainer.

That makes these very hard horns to beat. when the later models of instruments particularly in sax terms the YAS 275 and the 62 series, quite a few 'modifications' and tweaks were made - some. They have a vintage warmth and interest to the tone while keeping Yamaha’s excellent ergonomics and intonation. I think that in the context of say a Yamaha 62 purple logo, the reason for mentioning the purple logo denotes a period of time when these instruments were made as opposed to how they were made. This saxophone is sold! But click here to see our current selection of tenor saxophones.Įach of the Yamaha models has its strengths and weaknesses, but as far as I am concerned, the purple label 62’s are easily the best made so far.
